What is an Evaluation?

An Evaluation is where you bring your dog to the dog school and I meet you and your dog.
I do several tests that tell me about your dog's disposition.
After I listen to your input - I offer you several solutions with different approaches and prices.
You can start immediately in most cases.

My dog has bitten someone - can you help?

Yes I can help - You should call me and come in for an evaluation as soon as possible.
I can make your dog less dangerous and safer to handle.
I can start your dog today if necessary - I always keep 2 openings available for aggressive dogs.

How much does training cost?

We are by far the most cost effective Training School in the area. Other schools charge at double what we charge for Bootcamp and the programs aren't remotely familiar..
It is hard to put an exact cost up here for Bootcamp since every dog and situation is different and  the length of stay can vary dramitically from dog to dog for the Best Results.
*Generally Speaking at Your Evaluation I will give you 2 prices - The Length of Stay and Price for the Best Results and an Economy Price - With a shorter stay (possibly combined with Private Lessons) - Where you help more with the training.
Your Price Depends on how long the stay is and the disposition of your dog. I determine these things at your evaluation.
Protection Bootcamp and Housebreaking are also available.

Private Lessons start at $300 and go up from there.

*With problem dogs it is not wise to cut corners and In most cases the dog will need long term "therapy" - Most of which can be done by you - once I show you how.

Included in Most Bootcamp programs is unlimited owner Handling lessons (valued at $75 per lesson).

I keep costs to a minimum by doing all my own work - including my website, all marketing and all dog care at bootcamp.

How old does my dog have to be to start training?

A dog should start training as soon as they enter your pack (as early as 7 weeks old) - before they start to figure out how to manipulate you - this way you are establishing yourself as leader and instilling obedience as a way of life.

What does learning obedience commands and a routine have to do with my problems?

Obedience is the foundation for all control.
Teaching your dog obedience commands is just the beginning. Most trainers will teach your dog basic commands and tell you that your dog is trained. THAT IS NOT TRUE.

It is what We do with those commands and your new  leadership role that  creates and maintains the changes in your dog's behavior.
Using the obedience commands I teach your dog exercises that directly relate to any problems or issues the dog might have. I then use and teach you to use those exercises to maintain the new behavior to your satisfaction.

Why do I have to learn obedience before protection training?

During protection training your dog is learning to use aggression to get a reaction. In order to ensure that the dog will not use it against any member of the family the dog must clearly understand that you are in control.
By clearly defining your relationship using the obedience routine  - you take control.

Is it normal for dogs to fight?

Dogs will "rumble" periodically. Unless it gets out of control it is normal pack behavior. Only when it becomes overly dramatic is it a problem.

Do you use punishment in your training?

No. Everything I do is based on attention. If a dog makes a mistake or isn't doing something we want - I repeat the exercise until the dog responds correctly - then I  praise.

Why is a Non-Kennel program better than kennel based bootcamps?

Here Bootcamp dogs live together, eat together, go outside together and watch each other work. The dog learns to work WITH his pack.
The dog's behavior is also changed by socialization and densitizing him to his environment.
This technique allows me to work on normal activities that can be otherwise difficult such as greeting people at the door in a calm manner, walking in and out to go to the bathroom in a calm controlled manner , lying down and being good while you eat dinner, watch t.v. or the kids play without interruption.
A Kennel doesn't provide the atmosphere for these things to happen. The dog is instead isolated except for a short period of training each day. A dog can also regress in Housebreaking because in most kennels the dog relieves himself the same place he lives.

Here your dog lives in our home - I have a room off to the back that they sleep in as a pack and settle between lessons and work in the house. This makes the transition to your home the easiest possible.

What makes you different than every other trainer out there?

Everything I do here is unique - from the housing to the training itself. I not only teach your dog the commands but I  teach you (and anyone 8 and older) what to do with those commands.
Your dog comes into our Home and becomes a member of our pack. During the day your dog gets worked several times - usually outside in a side area close to the distractions of kids, bikes, cars and so forth. This way your dog becomes less aprehensive towards distraction and spends time in an outdoor 20  x 20 dog run periodically for exercise.
In the evening I bring each dog into our living area and practice the down stay and at night they sleep together in a pack as a team.

This is not a kennel based operation where your dog is only out an hour a day for training.

I offer Unlimited Followup lessons for bootcamp.

Do you Guarantee Training?

I guarantee that your dog will do all the commands and that I will do the best I can.
If any Client ever need a refresher -  I will give you a Lesson at NO COST.
Dogs have minds of their own and any Professional Trainer will only guarantee that they will do their best. Anyone that guarantees more is not being honest and is telling you what you want to hear.

HAVE YOU EVER HAD AN UNHAPPY CLIENT?

Dog Training is a Very Difficult Art to Master and even more difficult Business to run. I have never had a dog I couldn't train but THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE IS GETTING MY HUMAN CLIENTS TO CHANGE THEIR OLD BAD HABITS INTO NEW MORE PRODUCTIVE ONES.
I TEACH YOU TO LEAD WITH FAIRNESS, RESPECT AND CONSISTENCY BUT ONLY IF YOU KEEP AN OPEN MIND, TRUST IN ME AND THE FACT I KNOW WHAT I AM DOING AND DO YOUR HOMEWORK!.

I have had people that have a hard time changing their ways or listening and applying the things I suggest they do to resolve their issues.
Unfortunately I have in the last 5 years since coming back to Cincinnati from Sedona Az. had 2 or 3 situations that needed resolving. All but 1 was resolved  and I did everything in my power to resolve the last 1 but some people will never be happy no matter how hard you try. I still consider that a 99% success rate.

I Promise People just as I Promise You  - I WILL WORK FOR YOU AND YOUR DOG WITH ALL THE ABILITY AND KNOWLEDGE GAINED IN MY 30 YEARS OF DOG TRAINING RESEARCH AND EXPERIENCE AND IF YOU EVER HAVE AN ISSUE OR CONCERN PLEASE BRING IT TO MY ATTENTION AND I WILL DO MY BEST TO RESOLVE IT.
